Noflail Search is a search front-end that lets you run queries on many different search engines, including general-purpose or horizontal search engines such as Bing, Google or Yahoo, and specialty or vertical search engines (or searchable sites). Vertical search engines often provide better results, each in its particular domain, than horizontal search engines. The same query can be run on several search engines by clicking on those engines in the Engines panel.
Noflail Search has two modes of operation: Easy Mode, and Advanced Mode. You can switch from one to the other at any time by clicking on the corresponding buttons in the top-left corner of the display under the orange top bar.
In Advanced Mode there is a Search History panel that lets you save queries and interleave the browsing of multiple result sets, which can save you time and effort when tackling a difficult search problem. Advanced Mode also provides related queries, spelling suggestions, zero-result analysis for queries that produce no results, and the ability to bookmark and share results and queries by exporting them to Delicious, Diigo or Google Bookmarks.
Noflail Search is provided by Pomcor. It is built on the Flex® platform, and runs on the Flash® Player plug-in for your browser. By default, if you do not specify a search engine, it obtains results from the Microsoft® Bing™ API. More information about the technology used by Noflail Search can be found in the search technology page of the Pomcor Web site, including white papers and a PowerPoint® presentation.
