Browsing Real Time Search Results
Noflail Search now has a feature that you will not find anywhere else: it lets you keep track of how results change as you page through a result set in the Results panel. Results that were present in pages that you have seen are shown with a dim background, while new results are shown with a bright background. In the page menu at the bottom of the panel, page numbers of pages that have no new results are grey, while page numbers of pages withe new results are black.

Today, search results change frequently, in "real time". This is particularly true for real time search engines such as Topsy, but is also true for traditional search engines. This can be confusing and can cause you to miss results. For example, if results that were in page 2 when you were looking at page 1 have moved up to page 1 by the time you go to page 2, you may miss them. But with the new real-time browsing feature of Noflail Search, a glance at the page menu shows you that page 1 has new results, and when you go back to it, the new results are highlighted by bright backgrounds.

The feature is in effect for all engines whose results are shown in the Results panel, i.e. for all engines shown in bold face in the Engines panel.

Results in the page you are seing become "old" and are shown with a grey background when you click on any button in the page menu at the bottom of the page. However you can navigate away from the page without making the results old by holding the Shift key while clicking on a page menu button.

You can browse a snapshot of the result set without being distracted by the arrival of new results by "freezing" the result set, using the checkbox in the title bar of the Results panel.
